Along the way we will pass historical sights such as the Haig Point Lighthouse and the Strahn Mansion. Keep an eye out for the playfull Atlantic Bottlenose Dolphin. During the fall and winter months we often cruise through Calibogue Cay and along the waters of Broad Creek which is lined with beautiful waterfront mansions and estates. We sail early enough to catch the sunset and return after dark to the lights of Harbour Town. With incredible views and the welcome ambiance of our seating options every night aboard the Spirit Of Harbour Town is magical. Daufuskie Island Adventure

All aboard the Vagabond for a trip back in time to historic and mysterious Daufuskie Island. This four-hour excursion features a fully-narrated cruise to the island by our naturalist Captain. Along the way you will see and hear about the historic Haig Point Lighthouse, the ruins of antebellum slave quarters, Strahn Mansion, and many other sights. Once you arrive on Daufuskie Island, you can choose from either the narrated Old Daufuskie Tour, or you can rent a Fuskie Golf Cart and explore on your own. (Both the Old Dafuskie Tour and golf carts rentals are available at an additional cost once you arrive on Daufuskie Island. (golf cart rentals are based on availability) When you return back to the harbour, enjoy a leisurely lunch at the Old Daufuskie Crab Co. before returning to Harbour Town.

Research Vessel Vagabond
Vagabond Cruise is excited to host The University Of South Carolina Beaufort’s Coastal Ecology School aboard the Research Vessel Vagabond. This is a one of a kind collaboration between the island’s original excursion cruise company and the University of South Carolina. Students and faculty from the universities Coastal Ecology School will be aboard the Vagabond conducting research on phytoplankton, fish reproduction, and bottlenose dolphin. Researchers will be deploying trawl nets to collect specimens and hydrophones to listen and record the sounds made by various marine life including fish and dolphins. During the cruise passengers will have an opportunity to interact with the researchers as they show and interpret the days’ results. This research upholds our joint commitment and dedication to our coastal ecology, resource conservation, and sustainable ecotourism. Daufuskie Island Marsh Tacky Races
The Annual Marsh Tacky Beach Races is a one-day event that developed in 2009 to raise funds and awareness for the Marsh Tacky horse and it’s current status,history, heritage, and importance to the Lowcountry. Designated the South Carolina State Heritage Horse in 2010, the endangered Marsh Tacky is protected in part by the non-profit Carolina Marsh Tacky Association. Major in-kind donations and sponsorships to make this event possible are by J&W Corporation, Calibogue Cruises and Melrose on the Beach. The event will be organized with intent to grow into a new, annually recurring tradition that will promote Daufuskie Island tourism, local businesses, and more. A portion of all proceeds will be donated to the Carolina Marsh Tacky Association.
Races will take place on Saturday, April 27th on the beach and surrounding Beach Club grounds inside Melrose on the Beach Resort.
This year, there will be an exciting weekend full of events scheduled that will showcase the Marsh Tacky and Daufuskie Island’s many unique amenities, local businesses and organizations.
